DKA were appointed to explore design options for a 25-bed hotel adjacent to the Grade 2* Clevedon Hall. The hall operates as a wedding and conference venue. The hotel will provide high quality accommodation for guests within the landscaped grounds of the Hall. The sensitivity of the setting demanded a careful approach including consultations with conservation officers and ecological surveys. A design study many considered opportunities for the wider estate, including a new entertainment pavilion adjacent to the Hall and new build two and three-storey options.
The client also had high sustainability targets and requested the inclusion of many innovative features. A planning application was made for converting a two-storey office building into en-suite bedrooms with new cladding and roof shape. A new build reception, dining area and bar provides a focal point for the new development. Luxurious bridal suites were located in bespoke units within a secluded walled garden.
