Monkton Park Hub Refurbishment

Wiltshire Council appointed DKA to refurbish their Monkton Park hub (formerly North Wiltshire District Council offices designed by DKA as a PFI funded project) as part of their Transformation Project, which aims to streamline services across the county. The main aim of the refurbishment was to optimise levels of accommodation, increase desk capacity from 340 to 540, and provide a modern flexible workspace that staff can enjoy.

Work included the insertion of new ‘link bridges’ to improve connectivity between floor plates and provide space for central kitchens that form natural gathering spaces; new IT installation throughout the building; upgrades to service cores; renewed interiors and furniture; and a re-planned reception area to accommodate the new closer links between Council and police services. Construction was carried out floor-by-floor, which allowed staff to continue to use the building for the duration of the works. It was particularly important that the building remain operational, as the Police also operate from the hub and required 24hr access.
