DKA were commissioned by Sheldon School in Chippenham to design a new dance studio and classroom block to replace the existing life-expired dance studio. DKA and the rest of the design team worked hard, through user group workshops and design reviews with the school to design a building which was functional, elegant and worked within the funding constraints of the Education Funding Agency.
Architect, Sam Perry said: ‘The Dance Studio space with its high ceiling, glulam beams, specialist dance floor and generous natural light is the show-stopping space within the finished building. Performing arts has a really strong profile at the school and we are delighted to hear that the school and the dance students are thrilled with the new facility.’
The finished building is a testament to the collaboration of all those involved; the design team, the school user groups and Rigg Construction. DKA look forward to working together with the school in the future to continue to help deliver their future projects to enhance the student experience.
