This project is one of several undertaken for Kingswood School, an independent school in Bath. It comprises a new 2 storey houseparents’ house linked to the adjacent Westwood House. Set within a conservation area on a steeply sloping site, and enjoying extensive views southward over the city, it was designed as an ‘upside-down house’ with living accommodation on the first floor and bedrooms below. The brief included providing bespoke accommodation for a child with severe disability.
The house is designed to reflect the idea of a lightweight glass and timber conservatory sitting over a solid stone and render base.
