Replacement Secondary School at Writhlington, Radstock for B&NES Council. The environment is that of a high quality modern office, reflecting the school’s emphasis on business and enterprise. The office environment is carried outside through the use of high quality paving and sophisticated planting.
DKA developed the design from stage D to completion. It is an inspirational building that has been well received by the community. Technically complex, with a fire-engineered full-height central atrium, the building provides an unique teaching environment. The central area houses the learning resource centre, which together with a series of smaller double height spaces are used as shared resource spaces for group teaching, with ready access to adjacent private teaching spaces.
DKA also developed the design of the adjacent Applied Learning Centre.
