Leisure Centre Refurbishments for Wiltshire Council

Opportunities to transform existing spaces to meet community user needs

DKA worked with Wiltshire  Council to refurbish and remodel their existing leisure centres in Devizes and Warminster.

At Warminster, DKA helped to evaluate existing usage and transform an underused, deteriorating squash court into a modern fitness suite and weights area, designed to meet current user needs and maximise the potential of the leisure centre buildings.

In Devizes, our design team focused on the interior finishes and spatial layout to introduce distinct zoning, helping users intuitively navigate the space and find the right atmosphere for their activity.

The result is a cohesive, high-performance interior that’s as functional as it is visually appealing, designed to encourage movement, focus, and wellbeing.

We also refurbished the fitness studio, making it suitable for year-round classes, and introduced a flexible multi-use space with a kitchenette to support a wide range of community functions and activities.

Projects like these leisure centre refurbishments demonstrate how thoughtful design can unlock value in existing buildings, improving user experience, and extending the life of public assets. We understand how these assets are important to communities as they provide not only health benefits but social strengthening within a community as it’s another space to meet and interact.
