Porton Innovation Centre

Modular Facility Providing Collaborative Meeting & Laboratory Spaces

A key building on Wiltshire Council’s Porton Science Park. The 40,000 sq ft Innovation Centre is a full-scale modular building and is formed of 84 no modules built off-site. The modules were completed to about 75% fit-out in the factory before being delivered to site, allowing a high level of quality control as well as health and safety.

Porton Innovation Centre offers accommodation for Health, Life Sciences and Defence Technology related start-ups, established companies and organisations. It supports scientific activities linked to the Porton Campus. The building provides collaborative workspace, flexible office, meeting and Containment Level 2 laboratories.

The shape, height, density and appearance were defined at outline planning stage in an approved design guide. DKA worked with the D&B Contractor from RIBA Stage 4 to develop an affordable solution that complies with the design parameters.

FABIEN COUPAT

Director

Fabien joined DKA in 2001 and became a Director in July 2017. He has gained experience in a variety of building types, with an emphasis on education, leisure, healthcare and engineering projects, from feasibility and detailed design through to operations on site.

JON FIFIELD

Senior Architect

Jon’s early career experiences included invaluable involvement in working with listed buildings. He has worked across a variety of sectors with a particular emphasis in the education and engineering sectors. Jon can demonstrate personal involvement at all project stages, helping to manage project teams in a collaborative manner. He possess a sound technical knowledge and considers the build process to be an important aspect of architecture.
